Parents in their late 40s and 50s

You spent twenty years on everyone else.

Raising them. Building the career. Being the one who handles it.

Now your parents need you too, the kids somehow still do, and one day you catch yourself in the mirror and do not recognise the person looking back.

Twenty questions, about three minutes. A real answer at the end, not a sales page.

Justin Keane, strength and nutrition coach

That lands as fear and as sadness at the same time. Both of them are telling you something real.

I coach people in exactly that spot back to strong, capable, and recognisable to themselves. It takes less time than you think, and it does not take over your life.

Seventeen years coaching adults. Ninety-plus of them have written about what changed.
The work

The problem is almost never where you think it is.

People come to me sure they know what is wrong. They snack at night. They have no willpower. They need to be stricter.

Then we look at the actual week, and the night snacking turns out to be a breakfast problem. The lost motivation turns out to be six months of bad sleep. The knee that hurts turns out to be a hip that stopped moving two years ago.

Seventeen years of coaching adults has taught me that the thing you noticed is rarely the thing to fix. Find what is upstream and the symptom often quiets down on its own, without you fighting it.

Getting it back

“I had been away from the Woodshed for as many years as I had been a member. I was starting to feel enough age related aches and pains that I actually started to notice the days when nothing was hurting, which was becoming more and more rare. I wanted to get back to that kind of life before it became more difficult to achieve.”

“Three months later, I feel ready to join a gym again. I’ve already gone for a hike up a mountain. Even over distance, I was able to describe my experience with different movements and receive relevant correction or encouragement.”

The nutrition side

“The nutrition program helps me to build good healthy habits one step at a time. I’ve learned the importance of hydration, proteins, fruits/veggies and carbs, physical activities and great strategies and tools to build my healthy menus according to my activities. Justin is a great listener and is great at helping each individual work on their individual goals.”

Anne N.
Built around one goal

“The distance training I’ve been doing with Justin is tailored to my personal goals. I train Jiu Jitsu a few times a week and compete regularly. I’ve had planning sessions with Justin so he can target the areas I’d like to work on. As an older athlete this targeted programming is essential to my continued development.”

What the 20 lb was made of
Chris, coached online the whole way. That last number is the one I care about: roughly seventy percent of what he lost was fat. A typical adult cut runs closer to half and half, which means half of it is the muscle you spent years building. His VO2 max went up over the same six months.
Fit

Whether this is for you.

Built for

  • Parents with more people depending on them than time to go around
  • Anyone who used to be active and lost it somewhere in the last twenty years
  • People carrying a few aches they quietly work around
  • Anyone who needs this to fit a real week rather than take one over
  • Anyone tired of starting over every January

Not for

  • Anyone chasing a six pack by a set date
  • People who want extremes, or punishment
  • Anyone looking for the newest thing
  • People who want a PDF and no coach
  • Anyone who wants fitness to be their whole personality

I coached nutrition once and walked away from it, because the culture around it had turned punitive. I came back when the field finally moved toward strength and habits.

Which is where it should have been the whole time.
